Things are finally moving in Cwmcarn after the planning meeting a few months ago. The new trails are being constructed by local builders Back on Track and work has begun already: “The new trails XC & DH are under construction now and should be open by the end of the year hopefully. We are also planning on the new trails being kept open during tree felling so there will always be trails to ride there throughout the harvesting work.” Said Rob Campbell, MTB Ranger in South Wales. The new trails are part of the Cognation initiative, you can find the latest news regarding the trails in South Wales via their website.
Rowan Sorrell of Back on Track said: “The new XC trail will be on opposite side of the valley, red graded with some big descents and natural feel. While the new downhill track is going to be mint, fast, flowing and natural with a few drops, jumps and big berms thrown into the mix.”
New tracks in Cwmcarn will certainly be a welcome addition to a place that has so much potential. And with Back on Track on the project riders should be in for a treat. Trails should be open by the end of the year, and are currently closed for construction. All other trails in Cwmcarn remain open despite felling work starting soon, to keep up to date with uplifts visit Cwmdown on Facebook.
